At present I am working on a series of paintings entitled INVISIBLE CITIES. Recently I have traveled to such diverse cultures as Asia, North Africa and the North Pole. Rather than interpret my journeys in a representational format, my impressions are of the inner poetry of a place, which can take the form of color, patterns, textures, written language, plant or animal life. Additionally, when I return home, I research actual poets, past and present, indigenous to the region, to keep the experience alive and assist in creating my own language. Application on canvas or wood in layers of paint, sand, pumice and metal leaf enhances the sensual memory.
